Guthrie Playdate

Today we spent part of the day at the Guthrie Theatre, where Matt and I saw the play "Caroline, or Change" while Laura and Karl went to their "playdates"-- workshops led by Guthrie actors and teaching staff for kids. Laura has done this a few times already (and always loves it), but today was Karl's very first visit to the Guthrie. Both the kids had a great time playing acting games and other theatre activities, and the Kushner show that Matt and I saw was fantastic. The only thing we all DISLIKE about the whole Guthrie experience is the three-story escalator from hell.

Before the show we spent some time on the "Endless Bridge" that overlooks the river. Unfortunately the only camera we had with us was Matt's iPhone, so the quality of the pics is not very good.

We also had lunch at the Guthrie, where, to Laura's absolute delight, was a brunch buffet! The glorious brunch almost turned sour, though, when we discovered that the only two syrup choices were blueberry maple or orange maple (gasp!). Luckily, the orange maple syrup was maple-y enough to pass Laura's taste test, so all was well. A Guthrie Playdate and maple syrup: another winning combo for Laura.

Last summer when Laura stayed at our house, she had some syrup with a side of waffles. I thought there was no way she was going to eat those waffles with that much syrup. She definitely proved me wrong every morning!
